A set of activities based on the Book: The Shopping Basket by John Burningham. There is a complete set of small flashcards representing all the characters,places and food in the story. There are 6 activities: Draw the correct number of food items in the basket. Match the animals to the food they wanted from Steven. Match the animals to the places where they appeared in the story. Match the animals to the position they appear in the story. Write a shopping list for Steven. Write a note for number 25.

This is an activity where children collect up objects and test them with magnets to see if they are magnetic. There is a poster showing a collection of objects for testing and a template poster for you or the children to use to draw or write in. You could use a kitchen drawer divider to make your collections in for testing. There is a collection of 18 pictures of everyday objects that children can collect and test. The pictures can be cut out and used for sorting, pasting and discussion. There are 2 recording sheets, 1 where the children can make lists and 1 for children to paste the pictures onto under the headings YES and NO.

Fun with frogs and data handling at KS1. The lesson starts with children looking at the colour poster of 18 frogs all wearing different hats. Children observe carefully looking at the frogs eye colour and types of head wear. Sheet 2 asks children to count and record e.g. number of frogs with brown eyes/party hats/work hats. There are 5 questions to answer. Sheet 3 is for children to draw a hat on each of the frogs and label them. Sheet 4 shows frogs in different positions or activities. Children colour the matching frogs to make them the same. Sheet 5 shows 2 writing frames for children to write about frogs or their findings of the data handling activities.

A set of cards based on the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The cards include days of the week and the food eaten by the caterpillar. This resource is mainly photographs which gives a different slant to the activities. Links to science,maths, food and plant topics as well as literacy. Laminate the picture cards and they can be used in a variety of ways.

This resource offers a practical way to introduce data handling concepts to your KS1/EYFS children. Featuring 18 colour pictures / cards of Tennis Ball characters wearing different hats, this resource provides a hands-on approach to data analysis. There is a sheet of questions for children to fill in e.g. how many Tennis Ball characters have blue eyes, how many wearing Pirate hats etc. Other activities include designing hats for each Tennis Ball character on the sheet, matching black-and-white Tennis Ball characters and colouring them in to make them the same. Cut, duplicate and laminate the character cards for more matching and sorting games. A cross-curricular resource with a toy theme. Children label the 12 toys for sale in the toy shop. Children say how much each toy is as written on the price tags and count out the appropriate amount of coins for each one. Children draw a picture of the toys matching the price tags. Differentiate here by adding in your own prices or children use this sheet to write the cost of the toys. Add up the cost of two toys and write the answer. Tie in with some practical work with your own toy shop, tags and coins for role play fun and application of counting and money skills.

Have fun with your children this Easter or Spring with this Scavenger Hunt game. The idea is to place your colour posters around the outside area / playground or school for children to locate. They then mark off what they have found on the Scavenger sheets. There is a colour and a black and white version of the recording sheets. There are 16 colour posters included. There are also 16 sheets where there is a colour and black and white picture of each of the items in the hunt e.g. chick, sun, leaf and bee. Children can colour in the black and white pictures to make them the same. They could also cut these out to add to a class frieze or display. There is also a labelling sheet in colour and black and white for children to write the words of each picture onto. Links to data handling - recording, as well as matching and writing.

A 2D shape activity using hexagons. There are colour and black and white versions included here. The 4 types of sheets show one hexagon, two hexagons joined, three hexagons and a completed pattern on the final sheet. Children can cut out the 2D hexagons and copy or make their own tessellating patterns.

3 worksheets where there are 4 lots of cards to cut and sequence on each page. Children can either cut and sequence or write numbers 1 to 4 to indicate which order the pictures should be in. Link your topic on Superheroes to your number work with this resource for EYFS and KS1. The first 2 sheets show colour pictures of superheroes from 1 to 10. Children can match these to the numbers at the bottom of the page in words or numerals and / or cut out the pictures and order them. Page 3 is a template for children to draw into. 1 superhero is given and then children can complete by drawing and colouring superheroes up to 10. For matching and sorting games, duplicate the sheets, cut out and laminate the cards.
